Everytime a Bell Rings, an Angel Gets Their Wings

Most people my age and older recognize the title from the old holiday movie with Jimmy Stewart, It’s A Wonderful Life, based around 1928.
I hadn’t seen this movie in years and actually don’t know that I had ever seen it from beginning to end. However, there was one scene in the movie that really made me open my eyes.
It was the scene in the movie where George Bailey, played by Jimmy Stewart, was paying Mr. Potter a visit. Mr. Potter is a mean, grouchy old man that owns everything in town except the Building & Loan owned by the Bailey family. Mr. Potter knew that the Building & Loan was barely surviving, kind of like a lot of people in today’s age. Mr. Potter has been trying to get George to work for him for years. Well, George’s life is not exactly as he had planned it. When he was fresh out of school he was going to travel the world and become wealthy.
Act 2, Scene 1. George’s father passes away and his entire future changes instantly. He now feels an obligation to the Building & Loan because Mr. Potter wants to get his hands on it and turn it into a money making machine for himself and leave the poor people of Bedford Falls broke and indebted to Mr. Potter for life. Bears a resemblance to present day.
Back to the eye opening scene. George pays Mr. Potter a visit when things aren’t going well and Mr. Potter offers George to come work for him for $20,000 per year. Now, we are talking late 1920’s to early 1930’s. That’s a lot of money back then. When he offered that to George, I just about come unglued. I looked at my husband and said “That’s what I was making at my last JOB”. We’re talking an 80 to 90 year time period difference.
We hear all the time about people taking risks. I left my JOB because it was risky for me to stay. It was dead end, stressful and demanded way more of me than it compensated me for. Am I saying to leave your JOB just because you are unhappy or you read this? No, I’m saying that’s what the option was for me . If you are going to leave your JOB and just sit at home and eat bon bon’s all day long, I say you might as well keep being an employee, but if you are serious about changing your life, then you may wish to start having a different perspective on the “Wonderful Life” you want to have.
George Bailey took many risks in this movie and found out he did have a wonderful life. I took a risk and my life is changing in a wonderful way. I am now in control of my future, not a Mr. Potter. I heard a bell ring, and I was given my wings and a chance to soar like an eagle and I’m taking it. My wings just happen to come in the form of internet marketing and seo. Your wings might be the same or they could be different but whatever the case, here’s to everyone that is serious about a change, may you find your wings.
